Frequently Asked Questions

How early do I need to place my order?

I request that all orders are placed with 2 weeks of lead time, that will give us enough time to talk about what you’re looking for to be sure I can deliver! I require 1 week to fully lock down your order and finalize any changes to ensure I have enough time to get whatever supplies I need.

Additionally, the earlier you place your order, the more likely it is that I won’t already be booked for that week.

Do you ship cakes?

I do not ship cakes. Not only is it extraordinarily expensive to do it right, as a home baker in Minnesota, the law says that I cannot sell out of state.

How do I get my cake?

Once we’ve discussed your order, we’ll set up a time for you to pick up your cake. Pickup will be at my home address which I’ll give to you once we’ve discussed your order. I am located in Blaine, MN (a northern suburb of the Twin Cities). Depending on your location, I may also be able to deliver the cake to your house for fee. Delivery starts at $25.

Can I get a cake flavor not listed on your order menu?

I am always willing to try new flavor combinations so if you have something in mind, let’s see if we can make it happen! That being said, there are flavors of cake and filling that I cannot sell due to legal restrictions for home based bakeries in the state of Minnesota. These restrictions include items that are not considered shelf stable. If you have specific flavor combinations in mind, let me know.

How should I store my cake until we’re ready to dig in?

A cake will stay fresh in the fridge for a couple of days. Once it’s celebration day, take the cake out of the fridge about an hour before you plan to serve it and then it’ll be at room temperature when you cut into it!

If you need to hold onto it longer than a day or two, I recommend freezing the whole cake. You can ask me to do the freezing bit for you, then when you get the cake, it’ll be frozen and wrapped. One day before you serve it, move it from the freezer to the fridge, then about 4 hours before you serve it, move it out of the fridge, take the plastic wrap off, and let it sit at room temperature until you’re ready to serve it!

How long do leftovers last?

To store leftovers, I like to slice my cake up into single serving slices, then wrap them in plastic wrap or tinfoil and just pop them in the freezer! They can hang out in there for a couple of months, and then when you’re feeling the itch, take them out of the freezer and let them sit (still wrapped) for a couple of hours so they can be at room temperature.
